One of the first thing to learn about controlling emotions is that you can. We have been taught since childhood that we are not in control of our emotions. We are taught this by the words that we use like, "you hurt my feelings" or "they made me mad". Since it is impossible to get into anyone's head and make them feel anything, someone else can not make you feel anything. You make yourself feel. You might use someone elses comment to hurt your feelings or someone's behavior to make yourself mad, but that other person did not make you feel anything. You used what they did or said to make yourself feel. How you use someone's behavior and how you choose to feel is up to you.
